Tips How to Clean All Kinds of Blinds


Not only blinds protect us from sunshine early in the morning, but they also impart cosy and nice look to our homes. There are a tasteful and practical window treatment that serving a useful purpose. Blinds tend to accumulate a lot of dust which making them look dirty. Although you may wipe your blinds regularly, a deep cleaning is needed to be done once a few months. 

If you have metal or vinyl blinds, a deep cleaning should be done this way:

  1. Remove the blinds from the window and put them in the bathtub.
  2. Run warm water till they're completely covered and add some mild dish soap.
  3. Let the blinds sit for about 40 minutes in the soapy water.
  4. Use a sponge or a cloth to scrub the dirt from both sides of the blinds. 
  5. Once you have ensure that all dust is removed, rinse the blinds well under running water.
  6. Allow the blinds to air dry outside. In case, the weather is rainy, you can dry them with towel. 


Deep cleaning wooden blinds, you may follow these simple steps as wooden blinds need some special care.

  1. Close the blinds and vacuum them with the soft-bristle brush attachment of your vacuum cleaner. Ensure that you vacuum both sides of the blinds.
  2. Open the blinds up and use a clean cloth to wipe the remaining dust. If there are places that you can't reach, take a small soft-bristle brush to ensure that no dust is left.
  3. To finish the cleaning, take a clean cloth and apply some wooden polish to it. Wipe the wooden blinds to restore their origin condition.


When cleaning your blinds make sure that you don't use commercial cleaners or any abrasive cleaners, because they can damage the blinds.
