How to Avoid Major Carpet Cleaning Mistakes

Cleaning is a domestic task that requires time, dedication and in some cases money. If you don't want to spend a fortune, just because you failed in your home cleaning attempts, here are some tips how to avoid major carpet cleaning mistakes.

We all make mistakes. It is important to learn from them and refrain from causing damage to our valuable possessions such as Persian carpets. Carpet cleaning is not as simple activity as dish washing. It should be done with care. Only professionals know the secrets of carpet cleaning and have the experience required. As a non-pro, you can at least try to avoid making the following major mistakes.

You cannot simply stop spilling liquids on your carpet. The best you can do is to keep hot drinks and meals away. Hot water is one of the worst enemies of all luxury fabrics. Wool and cotton carpets shrink and lose colour. In order to avoid buying new carpets monthly, be more careful.

Another common mistake we often do is to apply cleaning products directly on fabrics. Would you do this on your favourite shirt if it gets stained? Probably not. You'll test the cleaning product on a hidden corner of it to make sure that nothing will go wrong. A carpet is much more expensive than a shirt. That's why carpet cleaning should be handled with care.

The last, but not the least harmful damage to your carpet is the one caused by moving heavy furniture around. In case you are moving out or you want to re-arrange your furniture do not drag it. Sliding is easy and safe to your carpet. You may not be able move it all, ask a friend or call professional movers if you change accommodation.

Save your carpet and save money!
