How Easy It's to Clean Full Grain Leather Couch

I am a person who grew up around a lot of leather things, boots, bags, pants, jackets and furniture and eventually began to love them. All this thanks to my parents, I'm really grateful they explained me all about leather. So now that I'm older I started to introduce my children into the world of leather. So I want to teach you too a little about leather. Maybe at the end of the article you will want to own a leather sofa or a jacket.

Choose The Right Leather

You have probably had a leather bag, which unfortunately tore off really quickly. Well this is because you bought a fake, a low quality leather or faux leather. The real stuff, the highest quality is expensive and difficult to find, because there are so much low quality products on the market. The worst thing is salesmen do not always try to cheat you, in many of the cases they don't know what kind of leather they sell. The furniture manufacturers are to blame and those from whom they buy the leather.

If I start explaining everything about how to recognize the high quality full grain leather it would become quite a big post and I really don't have the time to write it. Moreover my main purpose is to tell you how to clean and maintain your leather sofa and other furniture or clothes. I started the explanation with a leather sofa, so in order to avoid repeating the list of all leather products I'll just continue with sofa. The same rules apply for every leather product you have made from full grain leather.

Full Grain Leather Cleaning

There aren't many things you can do to permanently and totally damage a leather, especially if you have the high quality stuff, which are specially treated with oils and are stain and water resistant. Nevertheless if a stain occurs make sure to treat it right away, after all leather is a “breathing” material and it absorbs moisture and colour. If you spill liquid to a leather sofa get a clean damp cloth, soak it up and leave it to dry on its own.

If you're dealing with food stain for example, dampen a towel into warm water then in saddle soap or leather cleaner. Gently rub the stained area and let it dry, now get dry cloth and wipe the excess. You can also use an old toothbrush or suede brush. The final step is to apply a conditioner to soften the cleaned area. An important note, do not expose your leather sofa on too much sunlight, because is will dry it. Conditioning should be done once a year, but you should consult a professional cleaner, just to be sure http://www.wimbledon-carpetcleaning.co.uk/leather-cleaning/.
